Affected by the severe epidemic in the United States, the UK is becoming the number one destination country for international students. UCAS, the UK’s university admissions service, has released its “2020 UK undergraduate application data”, which shows that the number of Chinese students applying to UK undergraduate universities in 2020 will increase by 23%! In 2020, the number of mainland Chinese students applying to UK undergraduate programs through UCAS has exceeded 24,000 (as of June 30, 2020), an increase of 23% year-on-year, which is twice as much as in 2016.

If time and funds permit, it would be nice to go to school two weeks in advance or adapt to the language environment in the UK, as well as the living and learning environment, dormitory, library, etc. in the UK. A Host UK project is very good. International students can apply for this project and spend the weekend at a local British home to give themselves a different experience. In short, we must have the consciousness to actively integrate into a new environment.

Hi，thanks for your information. I really agree that many more students are going to apply for English universities. But the news say that England is also suffering from the virus. So, I’m really pessimistic about learning abroad.

I think applying for UCL is much harder in 2021 and I think that might become a trend in the future for UK universities to issue less offers to international students because of the influence of COVID-19.

Compared with the United States, Canada and Australia, the UK has a shorter graduation cycle. England has only three years for undergraduates, and only one year for postgraduates in the UK. The price is cheap (the United States and Canada have a separate fee for elective courses, but the United Kingdom does not, and there are cases in the United States and Canada where students sell courses at high prices), and now the United Kingdom also has a P SW visa. Visa and identity, 10 years in the United Kingdom can be a green card, so if you start with a preparatory course + 3 years of undergraduate + 1 year of postgraduate, you will have at least 7 years in PSW2. If you study for a second postgraduate, or preparatory postgraduate, It is easy to reach 10 years, which is actually a shortcut.

First, the expansion of undergraduate enrollment. Recently, there have been several changes to A level grades in order to maintain fairness in undergraduate applications, and universities have been expanding their intake.
Second, the number of applicants has soared. In 2020 alone, the number of foreign students studying at British universities will be around 2% higher than last year. In response to the increase in applications, universities in the UK have introduced “batch admission” schemes for courses that traditionally have a large number of applicants
Third, it is estimated that the offer issued will decline. There will be an increase in applications next year, but the number of places for foreign students at these schools will not increase as a result.
