(KIRA)

Some graduate programs give more weight to work experience than academic performance, but it can be difficult for recent graduates to accumulate internship experience over a long period of time. Therefore, I think it is feasible to have a gap year before admission or application to accumulate more work experience. But more careful consideration is still needed.

Gap year is a great opportunity to refresh and learn if you plan it well.
It also allow you to find your passion and invest your interests.
Volunteering, internship, travel, and so forth, are all good choices to consider.

I think the gap year is not a kind of escape from life, but a kind of behavior that is actively implemented because of conscious awareness. Its purpose is to make students think clearly about what they want to do in the future, strengthen their personal awareness, so that they can be sincere. Enter the academic world and the field of higher education. So I suggest that you study in the gap year before going to graduate school.

This depends on your future plans. If you plan to directly participate in the work, you can consider the interval after enrollment, because the identity of students and fresh students can bring convenience to find a job. However, if you plan to apply for graduate students after graduation, you only need to consider whether you can do something in one year. The impact on the application is not as big as you think.

I learned that a gap year is a year off from school and during that year, students have the autonomy to organize their own lives, whether it’s to travel, find an internship, or do nothing. I know some people who have experienced gap year, and one of them left a deep impression on me. She chose to take a gap year when she was in high school and devoted herself to her interest in beauty and makeup, and now she is a well-known online beauty and fashion blogger. I think a gap year would be a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves if they can find an industry or job they are interested in and can be determined to do it, just like her.

I think if you have the ability to get an offer before you finish your senior year and seamlessly move on to a master’s degree, take a gap year on that basis. You can tend to feel and think a lot of things that cannot be learned in school but in the real society, so as to confirm our own judgment on the world, refine the three views more clearly, and become a thinking body that is more difficult to be easily influenced by the opinions of the outside world. On the contrary, you can also use this time to do more preparation, spend more time on study, and strive to get the admission notice of the ideal school.

I think the gap year before graduate school has its strengths and weakness. On the one hand, during the gap year, we can find an internship to enrich our experience so when we find a job, we will have some experience and we can adapt to the working environment more. In addition, we can travel around to broaden our horizons since we do not have time to do it during undergraduate time. On the other hand, a gap year may make us lose interest in learning. Just imagine, when we get used to life in university, how many of you can still go back to high school and study hard for the university entrance examination? In my opinion, I prefer to go directly to graduate school after graduation from university.
