I must focus on the foreign time, not Beijing time. Therefore, manybe sometiomes I would miss the ddl in the dream. And Chinese students are really shy, even in the pysical class, we do not like speaking with teachers. So there is almost no one speak in the online class.

This varies slightly according to the policies of different schools. Some universities offer online classes for students who cannot be there. As far as I know, Chinese students majoring in media at Monash University can register for online classes, but they must attend classes according to the local time in Australia. The advantage is free time, and save a lot of living expenses. The disadvantage is that students cannot communicate with teachers face to face, cannot personally experience the foreign cultural and environment.

I think it’s not a good experience for Chinese students. Most Chinese students need to attend classes according to foreign time, not Beijing time. This leads them to study late at night or even early in the morning. Besides, they can’t experience real foreign life. In addition, they can only get to know professors and classmates from a screen and students can easily lose their attention when taking online classes.

I don’t think it’s a good idea. For Chinese students, studying abroad is not only for learning but also for experiencing the local conditions and customs of different countries. And the quality of online teaching can’t be guaranteed. In the online classes, it is often difficult for students to concentrate and actively participate in the class as in face-to-face classes. There are some disadvantages of online learning. Here is the link: https://e-student.org/disadvantages-of-e-learning/

To be honest, the online course should not be a good choice if it only has an online approach in your whole education. The reason why online courses cannot replace face-to-face courses is simple, that is, online courses are inefficient. People tend to be inactive and have less engagement with each other in online courses. And the most important thing is the teacher. It is very hard to engage with the teacher via online courses, which is a severe challenge in your education.

Although I haven’t taken online courses in other schools, many professors of WKU couldn’t return to China to give face-to-face lectures during the epidemic, which led to the need for us to study online. The study of this online course made me feel the following points. First of all, you can’t ask foreign teachers to cater to your schedule, so you have to study with jet lag. Secondly, the ddl when handing in homework is generally based on the Eastern Time, but students living in China often remember the wrong time. Third, online learning makes it impossible for you to communicate with professors face to face, which also affects the learning progress to a certain extent.

Emmm, believe me, it is really a terrible experience! Influenced by novel coronavirus, all the students cannot go back to school, and because almost all of our teachers come from foreign country, they cannot go back to China too, we can only have our class online. Because of the Internet problem, the class efficiency is very low, what’s more,, we can only take one class per week for one course, but we need to pay the same tuition!

Online classes are indeed a not-so-good experience (except that you don’t need to take exams hahaha)! What’s worse is the news that some companies do not recognize the degree certificates obtained by taking online courses at foreign universities in China. This may be the worst for us.

During the epidemic, we WKUers also experienced online classes for almost half of the year, but I think it was still essentially different from real foreign university online classes, at least we had Chinese students to help each other and guidance from the Chinese university here. It would be indeed an unfamiliar and difficult challenge for those who graduated during the coronavirus year and had to take online classes from foreign graduate schools.

Got a friend from UIUC study online but stays China.
Their online course still requests live attendance, he had to rent a house in case not to brother his family. Day night reversed live could be suffering depends on people. Tasks/ Assignments/ exams are basically the same (just for CompSci depart. of UIUC)
Personally I was back home while COVID broke out. Didn’t brought my laptop back, my first online course trial was messed up. Online courses requires a lot more frequent e-mail check or Blackboard check, which could be suffer for people don’t use to this.
